The Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary was founded in 2001 by three long-time, passionate reptile enthusiasts with a vision to make a difference for reptiles in the state of Arizona. There were plenty of organizations to rescue many species of animals from dogs and cats to birds. However, there was no such facility or refuge for unwanted or rescued reptiles.

Aquaponics combines two growing methods, aquaculture and hydroponics, to create a self-contained, well-balanced ecosystem. Fish are fed and raised in a tank and as gravity pulls the wastewater through a hydroponic garden, bacteria feed on the waste, breaking it down into essential nutrients for the plants to grow. The system then returns the cleaned water back to the fish reservoir so the process can begin again.

When you hear Oktoberfest, you probably don't think of Costa Rica, but think again. This proudly local restaurant, brewery, and kombuchery is igniting a passion for craft beer in their community. In 2015, a journey began that would transform the craft beverage scene in Costa Rica. Glenda and Esteban, due to work commitments, found themselves relocating to Maine, USA. What started as a mission to find better chicken feed, has blossomed into a complete lifestyle transformation! Scott and Ashley were so kind and welcoming, we loved every second on their homestead. It’s sweet flavor and nutty texture lent itself to a traditional southwestern diet, and eventually gave birth to the first white flour tortilla. Stone milling is an old world process where the whole grain is crushed into flour by rotating stones. Unlike modern roller mills that tend to shave off and discard the flavor and nutrients found in whole grains, the process of stone milling in small batches preserves the natural oils and nutrients of the grain, creating a more flavorful, nutrient-dense product.
